Broken Social Scene: Meet Me In The Basement

A killer relentless driving tune that pounds along and builds up into an epic extravaganza!

I've mostly been listen to LCD Soundsystem's new album This Is Happening this week in anticipation of the live gig on Friday. However this new album from Broken Social Scene is also fighting for my ears attention. It's as eclectic as ever, for anyone unfamiliar with BSS, they are a band or musical collective made up of many different musicians mainly from Toronto. The band's core members are Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning, releasing their first album in 2001. The new LP Forgiveness Rock Record is due for a May 4th release and is a good quality listening experience. The first single World Sick is available as a free download via their MySpace page, well worth getting. Much of the album sounds like the Fuck Buttons mixing an Arcade Fire LP, especially this track here Meet Me In The Basement and Sentimental X's. Other highlights include Ungrateful Little Father and All to All.
