 Guts: Brand New Revolution

Paradise for All

Every now and then an album comes along that pulls you further in with every spin. The 3rd LP from the Frenchman that goes by the moniker of Guts is one such record, released back in 2011. I have to say it passed me by back then, but it's a great LP full of originality and retro grooves, bossa-nova rubs up with Jazz, reggae, cosmic-funk, and soul with totally addictive results and the perfect soundtrack to your next beach holiday or summer road trip.

Following a debut album on Nightmare on Wax‘s Wax On label, le Bienheureux, Guts is now self-produced and releases his work through its own label, Pura Vida Records. Brand New Revolution is the track that hooks you in primarily but that's just the beginning as all the other tunes wade in with style and sophistication that you just can't deny.

Tune after tune, the cool slow lounge vibe of opener Laisser Lucie Faire, the dripping funk of Come Closer,  the brilliant crazy ping-pong bounce of Brand New Revolution, the madcap lyrics of What Is Love?, Reggae-funk stomp Freedom, the Balearic flutes of Little Black Cat, daft-hip-hop Back to the New School, Spaghetti-beats of Aimer Sans Amour, crazy soundtrack narration on Libre Je Suis Devenu. A joy from start to finish, bring on the long hot summer! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
